Dear Tyger River Presbyterian Church,
At a recent Session meeting, we discussed the “chapters” of Tyger River Presbyterian Church’s story. One of our elders suggested that Chapter 1 might be titled: “It’s fun to pray at the YMCA.” Many of you were there at the Middle Tyger YMCA for that first chapter of our church’s worship and service together. Tyger River was officially chartered as a PC(USA) congregation in August 1998, so this past Sunday we celebrated our 24th Anniversary! Through all the chapters of our congregation, God has been faithful, and the Spirit has led us into deep involvement in our community, including two foundational community ministries in The Carpenter’s Table food pantry and the Tyger River Children’s Center. Through these ministries and many others, our church helps serve and support hundreds of families each week.
As we prepare for the next chapter of Tyger River’s story, we are excited to launch a one-year initiative called the Quarter Campaign, which will conclude with our 25th Anniversary next August. Please save the date for our Quarter Century Celebration on Sunday, August 20, 2023. During the year-long Quarter Campaign, our Ministry Teams will be developing 25 short-term and long-term goals, which we look forward to sharing with the congregation. Our children will be launching their own Quarter Campaign as well. They will be collecting quarters to support an outreach of their choosing.
The Quarter Campaign also includes a fundraising goal of $250K to retire our remaining building debt by our 25th Anniversary. We have an amazing facility that between our Church and Children’s Center gets used for ministry all week long. Paying off our final building loan would save us over $100,000 in interest, but it also frees up $2500 monthly for new ministry! We’re also pleased to share that because of generous donors, we already have $75,000 committed toward our goal.
Below is a link to the Commitment Form. We ask that you prayerfully consider support of this fundraising goal, and the whole Quarter Campaign. If you have any questions about the campaign, please reach out to Jim Page, Finance Elder, or Hudson Neely, Pastor.
Thanks be to God for Tyger River Presbyterian Church’s story—past, present, and future!
Sincerely,
The Session of Tyger River Presbyterian Church
